Homestead Harvest -- Applique Complete! 4.30.17

Look!  It finally happened!  Every last circle has been carefully made and put in place.  Now I need to stitch this last set down.  The next step is that I get to put the row of HST's all around.  I need to start thinking of a quilting plan.  Ideas welcome!!!

Binding is one of the WORST forms of slow stitching for me.  I love to put a binding on by machine.  But some quilts call for "fancy".  Here I am putting the binding on the Underpants Project quilt.

And for all my slow stitching friends, check out the giveaway at Victorian Motto Sampler Shop!  Gorgeous floss to chose from.

I am also totally motivated by all the beautiful projects that I see each week at Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.  Click by and check out all the other GORGEOUS projects at today's linky party here.

I started this project in December, 2016.  The pattern is called Homestead Harvest.  Below is a picture of the quilt I am making.  I am learning applique.  The pattern is from the book Simple Appeal, 14 Patchwork and Applique Projects for Everyday Living by Kim Diehl.

Scrappy Saturday Garden Party Progress RSC17

I worked more on my Garden Party blocks this week.  This pattern is by Bonnie Hunter in the Addicted to Scraps book.  This week the garden grew by THREE ROWS!!!  Oh how I love this quilt and all the little scraps.  Believe it or not, many of the blocks are using fabrics of MULTI-COLORS!  Thanks RSC for having me step out of my comfort zone and cutting them up and using them.  I think they look LOVELY all cut up into tiny pieces!

I'm linking up for the RSC17 on Angela's blog, SoScrappy.  Click over there for lots of inspiration!  The RSC17 linky party isn't up yet.  Last week is here.

I finished the quilting on my scrappy stars quilt.  Look for a Friday Finish.  Here it is on the frame:

All the fabrics in this quilt (except for the backgrounds) are multi-colored fabrics as well (previously referred to as "uglies".  Just keep cutting 'em up and they'll be fine.

Shoo Fly -- An LQG Charity Quilt

Today's Friday Finish is one for my local quilt guild.  I like to donate my time as a longarm quilter to help finish quilts.  This Shoo Fly quilt top was in the to-be-quilted box.  I quilted it with the pantograph called "Plumage".  I used a soft, gently used sheet for the back.  I think it turned out really nice.  It measures 59" x 72".

I'm thrilled with the back for the first time of me following this pantograph.  It was good practice.

This was one of the quilts that I had planned to finish this quarter.  I posted about it in my Finish-A-Long 2017 Q2 Goals Post here.

I'm still hangin' with Pat Sloan and keeping up with the Solstice Challenge.  This is block #19 of 25 called Board Games.  Only six more blocks to go!

WIP Wednesday 4.26.17

It's been another productive week.  Here's what happened:

I finished Tumbler Rug #2.  It measures 28" x 42".  I love these denim rugs!

My Garden Party grew by a row.  (Pattern by Bonnie Hunter.)

I made three more scrappy challenge blocks for the local quilt guild.

I finished block #18 of 25 of the Pat Sloan Solstice Challenge.

I'm excited about the QA, #100Days100Blocks2017 because it was one I started in 2015.  I made these blocks back in 2015 for a QA with Michele at Crayon Box Quilt Studio for the City Sampler at Your Own Pace QA.   Then that was it.  It had been so long ago that I forgot my color scheme and everything.  I did run across the blocks last week while looking for another old project and cleaning my quilting shelf.  This will be an Instagram QA.  I dug them out and they are ready to go.  #100Days100Blocks2017 will start on May 7.  You can read all the details on our hostess (Angie's) blog, Gnome Angel HERE.

I'm working on the binding on the Underpants Project.  Don't expect any fast finishes.  I'm soooooooo  sloooooooow when it comes to stitching binding by hand.  But this one needs to be "fancy".

#100Days100Blocks2017 will start on May 7.  You can read all the details on our hostess (Angie's) blog, Gnome Angel HERE.  Here's a photo from Angie's blog of the Tula Pink book we are using.  I'm lucky enough that I can get the book from my local library!  Whooohoo!

I'm excited about this QA because it was one I started in 2015.

This is an old WIP!  I don't feel like I am starting a new project.  Only 10 of 100 blocks are done.

The new QA, #100Days100Blocks2017 will be a block a day.  Blocks will be made in numeric order.  Each day you post your block on Instagram.  I am very new to Instagram.  I've had an account for a while, but just learned how to post a picture to it with the app on my phone yesterday.  Here I come, social media.  LOL.

Come join the fun on May 7th!

Scrappy Stars Are on the Frame Today

Today I'm playing with another pantograph that I recently purchased as a big box of 'em from the APQS forums.  This one didn't have a name on it.  I'm practicing on my Scrappy Stars quilt that was part of an RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) project.

Big O -- And my Helper

It was a little chilly (51 degrees F) here in Ohio.  My husband texted me that he "turned the furnace on".  That meant that he wanted to work in the garage while I quilted.  My Nolting 23" longarm is not in the house that we live in, but in the house that is a WIP...  I didn't plan on quilting, but since the furnace was on I decided to walk up to the other house.

I have had my Big O (blocks won in the Block Lotto on 12.31.2014) ready to be quilted for a while and I decided I wanted to play with my Circle Lord Square Dance Giant Template Board.

Here's a close-up shot of the quilting.  Believe it or not, this is my first quilt with a black background.  I'm quilting it with black thread.

Here's the back of my machine (table) showing the Circle Lord Square Dance Giant Template Board.

All of a sudden my "helper" wanted to "play".

He started to take over!  He liked following the maze.  His stitches are a little squiggly, but I'm leaving them there.  When I showed my husband the stitches he made IN THE CENTER OF THE QUILT, my husband told me that this is now one of his favorite quilts.

I've never posted a video on my blog, but this is how easy it is to use the Circle Lord boards.

When we walked back down the path to the house we live in, Owen wanted to take a picture of today.  This is the view from our front porch of the house we live in and down the driveway.  Oh how I just LOVE how everything is getting greener, finally!  The lilacs are starting to bloom already.

Slow Sunday Stitching -- Homestead Harvest 4.23.17

Ahhh!  The progress is really starting to show.  I need to stitch another set of little berries (or buds?) down -- circles none the less and then there's only ONE MORE SECTION of circles!!!  I'm excited!

I am so happy I found the group at Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.  I would have never attempted a project like this.  I'm so happy that I did.  I love the fact that instead of finding more projects in books and adding more UFO's to the list that I am actually making something gorgeous.  I am just loving the process and learning as I go.

RSC17 -- 4.22.17

This week I made three more challenge blocks for my local quilt guild (and they aren't even due until September, 2017!)

Garden Party (pattern by Bonnie Hunter in her latest book, Addicted to Scraps) grew one more row this week.  These little blocks are addicting.  I started two boxes of 1.5" strips (neutrals & prints) and two boxes of 2.5" strips (neutrals and prints) to see how I like Bonnie's scrap user's system.  AGAIN, Bonnie knows how to be productive.  These little blocks are multiplying like crazy using that system.  I just know when this quilt is done I'll have piece parts ready for an Idaho Square Dance quilt!  Yeah!  I'm not cutting all the scraps just yet, but these four boxes will keep me busy for a while.

Look at those multi-colored fabrics!  Flowers, flags, Sesame Street, Christmas Bulbs, Monopoly money, plaids, prints, solids -- Oh my!

I'm linking up for the RSC17 on Angela's blog, SoScrappy.  Click over there for lots of inspiration!  The RSC17 linky party for this week is here.
