Decebmer 2016 Block Lotto

I had time today to make four strippy blocks just in the nick of time for the deadline of the drawing.  Here are my four strippy blocks for the Block Lotto:

Allietare, Part 5!

All caught up with this clue!  Yeah!  I'm loving the way Bonnie Hunter is releasing the clues this year.  It doesn't seem as task consuming.  She can make them small like this each year if it were my vote.  Here's my pieces for Allietare, Part 5!

Just a little about myself if you are new to my blog...  I'm a quilter from Ohio.  I love spending time with my family.  My son loves waterparks and amusement parks.  I raise chickens.  My husband is very handy and we spend a lot of time building things in the garage.  We enjoy camping.  I just started a new job of substitute teaching.

I'm linking up to Bonnie Hunter's blog, Quiltville's Snips and Quips for the mystery linky party here.  Check out the progress of TONS of other quilters!

Allietare -- Part 4... make that 3...

I'm linking up this week to Bonnie Hunter's blog, Quiltville's Quips & Snips here for the part #4  of the 2015 mystery.  I really like how the clues are going right now.   I'm a little behind because of my new job.  Hopefully I'll have a little time during the holidays to get caught up to Clue 4.

The fun part for me for this clue is that on some of the yellow (gold) fabrics, I only had enough for ONE 2" square!

Allietare! Mystery Monday Link-Up, Part 2!

I'm linking up this week to Bonnie Hunter's blog, Quiltville's Quips & Snips here  for the second clue of the 2015 mystery.  I really like how the clues are going right now.  I only got three of the sets done.  I hope to have everything caught up by Wednesday this week.  That keeps me happy!  Here's my three sets:

I love that I found 20 different "reds" (maroons to me) for this clue!

Elf on the Shelf -- Dancing With the Stars

Chippy scores a perfect 10 on his journey to win the coveted ELF disco ball.

Starry Night, Block 2

I didn't think these would move along so quickly.  I am just playing with these BOM patterns as "fillers" between Bonnie Hunter Mystery clues that come out on Fridays.  I'm already done with two of Block #2!

Here's the original one from the kit.

Here's the one I made from my scraps.

I started a BOM pattern called Starry Night.  My sister-in-law's mom loves to shop.  She went on a shop hop one year and had all the little packets neatly tucked away for quite some time.  I decided that I would do a block for her (with the fabric provided), and then do a block for me from scraps!

Our Elf, Chippy, got to use one of my slightly used Accuquilt dies today.  I LOVE the snowflake die, but don't use it on many projects.  Here he is with his 100+ snowflakes he hung in the kitchen.

Fun Border Blocks -- Scrap Saturday

The color for November for the RSC15 (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) is bright green.  Oh how I LOVE bright green!  I started a new project for the RSC15 (and RSC16).  I am making a block each month for a quilt called Folk Art Birds.

I really liked making these border blocks for the project.  I need three or four of each color each month.  Here's my four bright green for November:

I posted my bird on Saturday.  For extra fun I am string piecing each folk art bird.  This block is a huge 17"!  My plan is to use the RSC color of the month and make one of the 12 bird blocks and three to four of the border blocks each month.  Fun, fun!  The sashings will just be fun scraps string pieced together.  (Bonus scrap buster!)

I also am considering this my Let's Book It Challenge.  With this new project I am also joining in with Sharon at Vroomans Quilts for the Let's Book It Challenge.  You can get inspiration from Sharon's linky party here.

This quilt is in the book Making Quilts w/Kathy Doughty.  You can find in on Amazon here.  I got it at my local library!  Woot woot!  Lately I am finding a LOT of books and patterns I need by using my local library's search engine.  If my local library doesn't have it, I can get it from another library in Ohio.  Cool, huh?

Check out what others are doing with the RSC15 color of the month, bright green on Angela's blog, Soscrappy.

Friday Finish -- Courthouse Steps

This is a customer quilt.  The block is Courthouse Steps.  I LOVE the browns with the pop of red.  She is awesome at putting together her scraps!  But in this one, that red really is a show stopper.

I quilted it with the Circle Lord template, Jesters.  It's one of my go-to patterns.

The pieced back is just FABULOUS!!!

Our Elf, Chippy, was up to no good this morning.  What a mess he made.  Guess he wants to make cookies!

Chippy Uses Accuquilt Snowflake Die

The adventures of our Elf on the Shelf, Chippy, continue.  With a little help of our Accuquilt snowflake die he was able to crank out all these snowflakes in minutes to decorate the kitchen while our 8-year old was sleeping.  Owen LOVED the effect of this one!

Poor Chippy the Elf... He is being held hostage by Spiderman and the gang.  Hope he is able to break free.

WIP Wednesday 12.2.15

I've had several finishes over the past few months.  It's time for a few new starts!

I started a BOM pattern called Starry Night.  My sister-in-law's mom loves to shop.  She went on a shop hop one year and had all the little packets neatly tucked away for quite some time.  I decided that I would do a block for her (with the fabric provided), and then do a block for me from scraps!  Here's the block for her (block 1):

This one is for me!

ALLIETARE! is underway!  Clue 1 is done (with a little help from my helper.)

I made these two XPlus blocks for the November Block Lotto.

I have a customer's large wall hanging on the frame.  I'm surprising her with a little custom quilting.

I made a green Folk Art Birds block for the RSC15.

I finished a quilt top of Big O blocks that I won in the Block Lotto on 12.31.2014.

Our Elf, Chippy, has been busy every night.  I think he wants me to make cookies today... but I'll wait until the weekend when my little helper can help.

ALLIETARE! Mystery Monday Link-Up

This year's mystery is off to a great start!  I'm so glad the first clue was a smaller-than-usual clue.  Hi, I'm Kathy from Ohio.  I'm linking up on Bonnie Hunter's blog, Quiltville's Quips & Snips here.

I'm using the colors Bonnie Hunter recommended for the quilt this year.  The only difference is that my "grey" could be considered closer to sea foam green.  But when I look at it from a distance it is light grey.  Here's my cute little 2" (to finish 1.5" in the quilt) HST units:

The process went quickly for me.  I already had a supply of 2" HST cut.  (I'm an Accuquilt girl!)  The fun part about my neutrals is that I only had enough fabric for ONE piece in the whole quilt on some of the fabrics!  Now that's using my scraps wisely!

I do admit that I had some help... Spaghettio face and all. :)  He loves to help cut the units apart.

November Block Lotto & BOM Away!

Just in the nick of time I made these two XPlus blocks for the November Block Lotto.  They are due TODAY by noon.  Whew!  Aren't these fun blocks?

I noticed that I having been playing the Block Lotto much this year.  I am finding that now that my fabric is sorted in the "other house" all neatly by scrap color that I don't bring down the fabrics that I need for the Block Lotto.  Well, that's going to come to an end soon.  I'm going to try to pull the fabrics needed the first week of the month to try to be able to play more.  Let's see how that works.

Customer Quilt -- A little custom quilting this time...

This week I have a small customer quilt on the frame.  I don't care to do custom quilting for customers yet.  I have only been doing edge-to-edge designs for customers.  This is just a small quilt and I was hoping to experiment a little with it.  So far so good...
