MMMRR13 Sneak Peak

Here's a sneak peek for the MMMRR.  Karyn should know that this is her block.  But after this one, the owner won't know I'm working on her block.  (That's part of the mystery part.)

WIP Wednesday 2.27.13

My list of quilt tops is getting smaller and smaller.  Five quilt finishes in five weeks. Whohoo! This one is the Victoriana Quilt Design Fabric Party Row by Row QA. I quilted it with the Hearts A Flutter design on the longarm. I'm really getting comfortable with that design. I think it's feminine and romantic. You can find the info on that QA here. Here it is:
The back and binding is one of the fabrics in this Sea Glass collection from JoAnn Fabrics.

Here's my Block Swap Adventure block I made for February for my partner, Teresa in UK:

Spring Mystery 2012 On the Frame

Finally... I was able to work a little on my longarm today.  I haven't had time to get to it since 2/17!  Today I loaded my Spring Mystery quilt from Yahoo Groups.  I have a feeling that this quilt will be for my niece's seven-year-old daughter.

I am getting very comfortable with the Hearts A Flutter quilt pattern.  I am taking a big step and quilting this in bright magenta.  I'm excited how it's going so far.  The back is just a small pink polkadot fabric, BUT the quilting pattern on it looks beautiful.  Keep your fingers crossed for me that I have just a few skipped stitches.

To jog your memory, this is what the quilt top looks like:

A Charming Weekend

It's a great day when I go to the local YMCA for a workout in the pool and I get back to my locker and find a big bag of scraps!  Thanks to my friend, Judy, these always surprise me.  With the scraps I was able to cut a ton more unique charms for my Tumbler Charm Quilt.

Here's the last picture of my Tumbler Charm Quilt.  I haven't worked on it since November, 2012.  It needs about four to six more rows.  I'm going to add what I have and see how big it is.  I also need to practice practice practice the Baptist Fan pattern on my longarm.  I'm pretty sure that is how I want to quilt it.

I have tried to contact Teresa several times.  Hopefully it's just an e-mail fluke.  I hope that she has received this block already and that I am not spoiling the surprise by posting it on my blog.

Terry's Treasures QA

Wow, a lot of cutting happened the last two days!  After getting all my scraps busted with theSwoon Along, I cut these for the sew-along at Terry's Treasures.  I have a feeling I'm going to need to have a little girl quilt on hand.  This is going to make a cute little quilt!

WIP Wednesday 2.20.13

Finishes this week:

Kaleidoscope QA

Since I have two quilts that just need a binding I allowed myself to start two more QA projects (Scrappy Swoon Along and Terry's Treasures Sew Along).

I'm hoping my Scrappy Swoon Along turns out nice enough to use as a Quilt of Valor.  I am making it from scraps in reds/maroons, creams, and blues.  This is what it looks like so far:

This LQG Friendship Block Swap quilt made it on and off the frame this week.  It needs a binding.

Scrappy Swoon Along - Step 1 Complete

Step 1 of the Scrappy Swoon Along went quickly.  It's just a 36 patch.  You can start sewing with the Scrappy Swoon Along here.

Scrappy Swoon Along

I can't believe I'm doing this (kinda), but I had an inspiration to make a Quilt of Valor using the Scrappy Swoon Along.  I had a lot of blacks, purples, pinks and greens that would make a nice big swoon, but when I put them together they just didn't look right to me in that pattern.  All of a sudden I saw all of my navy blues and maroons and it hit me... A Quilt of Valor.  I think I am at the point where my quilts are good enough for this purpose.  Thanks to my GO! Baby, I can't believe that all of my pieces are cut.  Here are my color ranges:

On the Frame

Here's the quilt that I loaded on the frame this weekend.  These are the friendship blocks that I swapped with my local quilt guild.  This was my first swap with the guild.  I am using the Hearts a Flutter quilting pattern again.  I'm getting the feel for this one and I'm liking it!

I finished quilting the Fabric Party quilt.  It just needs a binding to make it to another Friday finish!

Have you seen the Scrappy Swoon Along?  This one is right up my alley.  I have a bunch of scraps sorted.  Hmmmm.  I need to think about starting another project or not.  But then again, this Friendship Swap quilt will be done in no time as well.  We'll see, we'll see.  But doesn't this look cute and Accuquilt friendly with busting my scraps?

Made With Love by Mary Mystery Quilt - Step 3

Step 3 is now complete on my Made with Love by Mary Mystery Quilt.  There's still time to join if you want.  Check it out here.
Here are my 20 strips.  My color scheme is in low-volume colors.  My lights are neutrals and creams and whites.  My mediums are mostly pastels.  My darks are greys.  I can't wait to see how this ends.

Friday Finish #4

Here's another Friday finish.  It's my FOURTH finish in four weeks!  This is my quilt from the Kaleidoscope QA with Don't Call Me Betsy blog back in May 2011.  You can find more info on the QA here.  I finished it with the little flowers on the pantograph that is one of the five standard issues with the Nolting.  Check another off of my list (and start another.  LOL)

This little quilt measures 33" x 48".

I am also linking up with the New Weekend Update at the Block Lotto. You can check out what other talented quilters are working on here.

I'm also excited to hook up to the Friday Finishes at Richard and Tanya Quilts here.

On The Frame

Here's what's on my frame today.

It's the Victoriana Fabric Party row by row QA.  I wasn't thrilled with the way this quilt was going (stretching...)  It is also one of my early quilts, started in June, 2011. (Sorry for the blurry pic.)  I am using my Hearts a Flutter design.  I'm kinda getting attached to this design.  I am having fewer and fewer missed stitches as I improve with speed and steadiness.

Here's the top.  I stopped making rows once I saw how much all these little pieces stretched.

The fabric were "jellies" from JoAnn Fabrics (20 strips).

Sew Cal Gal's FMQ Challenge quilt.  See post here.

I finished longarming my Kaleidoscope quilt.  It just needs a binding.  Expect another Friday finish!

I completed and mailed my Block Swap Adventure block to my partner, Teresa, in UK.  Sorry, I can't post a pic... I don't want to spoil the surprise since she knows that it is the cactus flower block.

Practice #2

I can see a lot of improvement in some of my stitches already.  The last time I posted about practicing feather circles was 1/29.  You can see that post here.  Remember that I keep re-using a quilt sandwich with different colored threads to practice.
Here's the results of my practice today:

My feather wreath is getting much better.  There are still skipped stitches...

The blue stitches are Baptist Fan (needs a lot of work.)  I need to watch more videos on YouTube!
I really want to learn this pattern.

The red stitches are called Hearts a Flutter.  I'm thinking of using this on my Scrappy Christmas QA.
Should I use hearts on a Christmas quilt?  It's pretty loose and should make a quilt soft and fluffy.

My clam shells look okay from a distance.

Here's a line of feathers.  (The top left is a different feather lei design.)

Here's a better shot of the feather lei.  It's getting much better too!

And Sew On... BOM at Quiet Play - Block #2

Here's the second block for BOM called "And Sew On..." at Quiet Play.  You can join in here.
This February block is called You Little Ripper.

Block Swap Adventure Sneak Peek

Here's a sneak peek for my partner, Teresa, from UK.  This is the February Block Swap Adventure block.  Teresa requested the Cactus Pot Block.  http://quilting.about.com/od/blockofthemonth/ss/cactus_quilt.htm

Color Preference: Bright, strong colors, primary colors, pinks, greens, electric blues. Cheerful colors.

Teresa's block is the top one.  Oops, did I just say that?  It's not the top one...  Those are my UFO flower basket blocks that I haven't worked on for quite a while.  Here block is kinda like that but just a little different in the colors that she liked.  If I post a picture of it the surprise would be ruined.  I put it in the mail today.  I'm not sure how long it will take to get to UK, but she should have it by the end of the month for sure.

Here's her real sneak peek.  It's coming in a green envelope, Theresa!  Enjoy!
